U11MINI 4K - Aerial Photography Composition Techniques

In the previous blog post, we mentioned the advantages of the U11MINI 4K in aerial photography. In this post, we’ll delve into the U11MINI 4K’s related aerial photography technologies, starting with basic settings, shooting techniques, and post-production optimization.

1. Basic settings of the drone

A. Camera parameters: The drone's 4K resolution allows for easy cropping and higher-definition image quality. The 30 fps frame rate creates a cinematic quality for landscape shots. Locking these two parameters helps you achieve the perfect shot.

B. Flight Settings: Set the return altitude (higher than surrounding obstacles), and select alarm and return when the battery is 20% low.

2. Shooting techniques

A: Classic camera techniques

Pull Away: Keep the subject in a fixed center position while the drone moves backward and upward (ideal for a video opening).

Orbit: With the subject as the center, the drone flies around the subject (to highlight the building or person of the subject)

Dolly Zoom: Control the drone to slow down and zoom while descending (creating a visual impact for the video)

B. Composition rules

Rule of thirds: Place the subject at the intersection (to avoid a dull image)

Guidelines: Use lines such as roads and rivers to guide the line of sight (enhance the sense of depth)

Symmetrical composition: Suitable for shooting regular scenes such as buildings and lakes.

3. Suggestions for post-optimization

A. Color grading: Enhance the contrast of the shot and increase the saturation appropriately (aerial photography tends to be grayish)

B. Editing rhythm: Aerial footage should be short (3-5 seconds/shot) and smoother when paired with music.
